Picca A, et al. - An inquiry was set up with regard to the inflammation and the redox balance in patients with active Celiac disease (CD). Additionally, researchers contemplated whether alteration of mitochondrial function was involved in the disease status. The findings shed light on the mitochondrial involvement in CD. Moreover, it indicated the analysis of the mtDNA content as a potential diagnostic and follow-up parameter.
