The Journal of Urology Sep 13, 2017
Gaither TW, et al. - This study was set up to investigate missed opportunities to decrease radiation exposure in children with renal trauma. Findings highlighted the prevalence of repeat computed tomography (CT) scans in pediatric patients with renal trauma. In addition, obtaining delayed imaging on the initial CT scan in patients with high-grade renal trauma appeared to prevent repeat CT scans. In monitoring kidney injuries, renal ultrasound offered diagnostic utility. This study proposed to consider it before repeating a CT scan.
