MiR-10a-5p: A promising biomarker for early diagnosis and prognosis evaluation of bladder cancer
Cancer Management and Research Oct 18, 2021
Yang L, Sun HF, Guo LQ, et al. - Findings demonstrate utility of miR-10a-5p as a crucial diagnostic as well as prognostic biomarker in bladder cancer (BCa), and miR-10a-5p was shown to exert a tumor promoting role during BCa cell progression.
This study involved 88 BCa patients and 36 healthy controls (HC) [training cohort], and a validation cohort comprising other 120 BCa patients.
Human BCa tissues exhibited upregulated miR-10a-5p, and a close association of miR-10a-5p with advanced clinicopathological features was evident.
BCa patients with high expression of miR-10a-5p experienced worse survival outcomes.
Great performance power of circulating plasma miR-10a-5p expression was evident to distinguish BCa from HC cases before surgery as well as to differentiate muscle invasive bladder cancer from non-muscle invasive bladder cancer.
BCa cell proliferation, migration, and invasion could be promoted by overexpression of miR-10a-5p.
