Minocycline for acute stroke treatment: A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized clinical trials
Journal of Neurology Jun 19, 2018
Malhotra K, et al. - Researchers examined the effectiveness and safety of minocycline in patients with acute stroke through a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized clinical trials. A literature search was performed through November 30, 2017, across major databases to distinguish all studies that reported following efficacy outcomes among acute stroke subjects treated with minocycline vs placebo: National Institute of Health Stroke Scale, Barthel Index, and modified Rankin Scale scores. Limited data revealed that minocycline showed efficacy and appears a promising neuroprotective agent in acute stroke patients, particularly in acute ischemic stroke subgroup.
