Mild cognitive impairment is associated with poor physical function but not bone structure or density in late adulthood: findings from the Hertfordshire cohort study
Archives of Osteoporosis Apr 29, 2018
Patel A, et al. - Authors probed the relationship between mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and physical performance, and bone health, in a community-dwelling cohort of older adults. Findings Suggested an association of MCI in older adults with poor physical performance, but not bone density, shape or microarchitecture. In both sexes, higher Mini-Mental State Exam (MMSE) score was associated with better physical performance. Whether assessed by the Strawbridge questionnaire, or by MMSE score, a poorer cognitive function was not related to bone density, shape or microarchitecture, in either sex.
