Migraine and the risk of all-cause dementia, Alzheimer disease, and vascular dementia: A prospective cohort study in community-dwelling older adults
International Journal of Geriatric Psychiatry Sep 10, 2019
Morton RE, et al. - Researchers examined how migraines are associated with dementia, including Alzheimer disease (AD) and vascular dementia (VaD). From the Manitoba Study of Health and Aging, they analyzed 679 community-dwelling participants (65 or more years of age). Outcomes revealed a significant association of a history of migraines with both all-cause dementia and AD, even after adjustment for confounding and intervening variables. No significant correlation of migraines with VaD was observed either before or after such adjustment.
