Migraine and subsequent chronic kidney disease risk: A nationwide population-based cohort study
BMJ Open Jan 10, 2018
Weng SC, et al. - Herein, researchers undertook a comparative analysis of the incidence and risk of chronic kidney disease (CKD) between candidates with new-onset migraine and matched controls without migraine. For CKD, migraine could serve as an independent risk factor. It was determined that young enrollees with the migraine, and those with comorbid conditions or without medical control, exhibited a likelihood of being at higher risk for CKD. Moreover, ageing, male sex and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) illustrated a tendency of being linked with CKD in individuals with migraine.
