Midterm results of radiocapitellar arthroplasty of the elbow: A multicentre prospective study on two different implants
The Bone & Joint Journal Nov 07, 2019
Giannicola G, et al. - A total of 31 persons were investigated in order to examine the outcomes of two radiocapitellar prostheses in a large case series followed prospectively, with medium-term follow-up. By 50, 55, and 54 points, The mean Mayo Elbow Performance Score, modified American Shoulder Elbow Surgeons, and Quick Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder and Hand scores, respectively, notably enhanced, with no variations being discovered between the implants. In individuals in whom the Uni-Elbow Radio-Capitellum Implant (UNI-E) was used, preoperative pronation and supination were worse. Asymptomatic evidence of gross loosening was noted in two persons with the UNI-E implant. In conclusion, at a mean follow-up of 6.8 years, radiocapitellar arthroplasty authenticated a notable betterment in elbow function, with a high implant survival rate when the Lateral Resurfacing Elbow was used in individuals with primary or posttraumatic OA, without radial head deformity, and when the UNI-E was employed in individuals in whom radial head excision was suggested.
