Mid-term results of lateral unicondylar mobile bearing knee arthroplasty: A multicentre study of 363 cases
The Bone & Joint Journal Jan 23, 2018
Walker T, et al. - This retrospective evaluation was carried out to delineate the mid-term outcomes of mobile bearing unicondylar knee arthroplasty (UKA) for isolated lateral osteoarthritis of the knee joint. Researchers found a high revision rate of 15% at 5 years in patients treated with mobile bearing UKA in the lateral compartment. They noted that the prime cause for implant failure was dislocation of the mobile bearing. Overall, although this procedure offered good functional and clinical outcomes and high patient satisfaction, researchers discontinued using mobile-bearing lateral UKA in favour of a fixed-bearing component.
