Microstructural white matter alterations in patients with drug induced parkinsonism

Human Brain Mapping Sep 19, 2017

Lee Y, et al. - The purpose of this study was to analyze microstructural white matter (WM) in patients with drug-induced parkinsonism (DIP) using diffusion tensor image and to determine its relationship to severity of parkinsonian motor symptoms and cognitive function. The outcomes of this study illustrate that disruption of the WM microstructure is extensive in patients with drug-induced parkinsonism, and it is associated with clinical parameters of parkinsonism and cognitive performance. Moreover, this suggests that DIP may be reflective of underlying abnormality of microstructural WM.
