MicroRNA-137 and -195* inhibit vasculogenesis in brain arteriovenous malformations
Annals of Neurology Aug 18, 2017
Huang J, et al. – The physicians aimed to examine microRNA (miRNA) expression and its contribution to the pathogenesis of brain arteriovenous malformations (AVMs). They demonstrated that by altering phenotypic properties of AVM smooth muscle cells (AVMSMCs), miR–137 and miR–195* acted as vasculogenic suppressors in AVMs and that the absence of miR–137 and miR–195* expression led to abnormal vasculogenesis.
