Microendoscopy-assisted minimally invasive vs open transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion for lumbar degenerative diseases: Five-year outcomes
World Neurosurgery Jun 04, 2018
Yang Y, et al. - Researchers aimed at evaluating five-year outcomes between microendoscopy-assisted minimally invasive (MIS) and open transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (TLIF). Findings demonstrate that microendoscopy-assisted MIS-TLIF is comparable with open TLIF regarding five-year clinical and radiological outcomes with additional benefits including decreased intraoperative haemorrhage, reduced postoperative analgesic usage, accelerated ambulation recovery and enhanced short-term functional improvement after surgery. Longer surgical duration and increased intraoperative radiation exposure were also observed with microendoscopy-assisted MIS-TLIF.
