Microelectrode recording guided versus intraoperative MRI guided in STN deep brain stimulation surgery for Parkinson's disease: A one-year follow-up study

Liu X, et al. – The one–year follow–up outcomes of microelectrode recording (MER) guided and intraoperative MRI (iMRI) guided STN deep brain stimulation (STN–DBS) surgery in Parkinson's disease (PD) patients were compared. In DBS surgery, MER and iMRI both were effective ways to ensure adequate electrode placement. However, the clinicians found no superiority between both techniques, at least in terms of one–year follow–up outcomes.
