Methotrexate might reduce ischemic stroke in patients with rheumatoid arthritis: A population-based retrospective cohort study

Tam HW, et al. - An inquiry was set up with regard to the effects of hydroxychloroquine, sulfasalazine and methotrexate on ischemic stroke in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). A decrease could be achieved in the ischemic stroke risk in RA patients through a dosage of > 0.5 defined daily dose, short-term methotrexate. On the other hand, hydroxychloroquine and sulfasalazine were found to be neutral.
