Feliciano EMC, et al. – This study entailed methodological considerations for disentangling a risk factor's influence on disease incidence versus post–diagnosis survival. A risk factor that increased disease incidence would increase disease–specific mortality. Requiring consideration of additional design and analysis issues such as selection bias, its influence on post–diagnosis survival appeared to vary.
