Journal of Paediatrics and Child Health Sep 10, 2019
Xiao F, et al. - Using the PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, Cochrane Library and ClinicalTrials.gov databases, studies published before January 1, 2019, were identified to ascertain if morphine has better outcomes for neonatal abstinence syndrome treatment than methadone. According to this meta-analysis, no significant difference was found in opioid treatment days, length of hospital stay and duration of treatment between morphine or methadone treatment. In infants compared with methadone treatment, neonatal abstinence syndrome treatment with morphine was not linked to better outcomes.
