Metformin vs sulfonylurea use and risk of dementia in US veterans aged >=65 years with diabetes

Orkaby AR, et al. - Experts aspired to ascertain whether metformin was correlated with a lower incidence of dementia than sulfonylureas. In veterans <75 years of age, metformin was associated with a lower risk of subsequent dementia than sulfonylurea use, after accounting for confounding by indication. Further work was recommended to identify which patients could benefit from metformin for the prevention of dementia.
