Campbell JM, et al. - Researchers performed this meta-analysis to examine whether the insulin sensitiser metformin had a geroprotective effect in humans. They noted that apparent reductions in all-cause mortality and diseases of ageing correlated with metformin use. This suggested that metformin could be extending life and healthspans by acting as a geroprotective agent.
