Metformin enhances the differentiation of dental pulp cells into odontoblasts by activating AMPK signaling
Journal of Endodontics Jan 11, 2018
Qin W, et al. - The effects of metformin on the proliferation and differentiation of dental pulp cells (DPCs) were investigated in this study. The authors revealed that metformin could induce DPC differentiation and mineralization in an adenosine 5'-monophosphate-activated protein kinase (AMPK)-dependent manner. This (well-tolerated antidiabetic drug) had potential in regenerative endodontics as well as in other regenerative applications.
