Metastasis-directed stereotactic body radiotherapy for oligometastatic renal cell carcinoma: Extent of tumor burden eradicated by radiotherapy
World Journal of Urology May 31, 2021
Liu Y, Long W, Zhang Z, et al. - Researchers investigated if results of oligometastatic renal cell carcinoma (RCC) would be influenced by complete eradication of tumor burden with stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT). They examined cases with extracranial oligometastatic RCC (no more than five metastases), excluding those without nephrectomy. SBRT to all, some and no lesions were defined as complete, incomplete, and no SBRT. Findings revealed that better survival was achieved by complete eradication of tumor burden with SBRT in patients with oligometastatic RCC. Individualization of the recommendation of SBRT to all lesions is advised.
