Metabolic risk factors in nondiabetic adolescents with glomerular hyperfiltration

Lee AM, et al. - This study was planned to find out whether glomerular hyperfiltration was associated with metabolic abnormalities in US adolescents without diabetes. Independent of BMI z-score in a nationally representative sample of US adolescents, glomerular hyperfiltration exhibited a link with hypertriglyceridemia and increased insulin resistance. In comparison to other racial/ethnic groups, Hispanic adolescents were more likely to had hyperfiltration. In evaluations of renal function and metabolic syndrome (MetS) in adolescents to identify related risks and target interventions, these findings could have significance.
