Chae J, et al. - The metabolic risks of adult and adolescent first-degree relatives (FDR) of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) women (i.e. fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, sons and daughters) vs controls are ascertained in this study. The outcome of this study proposes that first-degree relatives of women with PCOS, compared to controls, have increased the risk for metabolic and vascular morbidities. However, overall few studies have ascertained the risk of these long-term complications in FDR of PCOS women and further research is required.
