Meta-analysis of transradial vs transfemoral access for percutaneous coronary intervention in patients with ST elevation myocardial infarction
The American Journal of Cardiology Dec 19, 2020
Jhand A, Atti V, Gwon Y, et al. - Researchers examined clinical results of transradial access (TRA) vs transfemoral access (TFA) in ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) patients receiving percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), by performing this meta-analysis. PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane library database, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature, ClinicalTrials.gov, and recent major scientific conference sessions were explored from inception to October 15, 2019, to identify relevant studies. Experts analyzed 17 eligible randomized controlled trials with 12,018 participants. Findings revealed lower risk of all-cause death, major bleeding, and vascular complications in relation to TRA vs TFA in STEMI patients receiving PCI.
