Surgical Endoscopy Apr 30, 2019

Witowski J, et al. - In this meta-analysis, the outcomes of pure laparoscopic (LLR) vs open liver resection (OLR) in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma were compared. Researchers identified 2085 articles; of these forty-three studies (N = 5100 patients) were included. Outcomes revealed LLR as beneficial regarding overall morbidity and non-procedure-specific complications. Patients undergoing the two procedures were not different regarding mortality and both 3- and 5-year overall survival and disease-free survival.
