Meta-analysis of serum and/or plasma D-dimer in the diagnosis of periprosthetic joint infection
Journal of Orthopaedic Surgery and Research Aug 10, 2020
Li C, Margaryan D, Ojeda-Thies C, et al. - In the management of PJI, the first and most crucial step is early diagnosis. Researchers here performed a meta-analysis to determine the diagnostic value of D-dimer in detecting periprosthetic joint infection (PJI). Performing a systematic search and screening of relevant studies in the databases PubMed, Web of Science, and Embase, they included seven studies with 1,285 patients in this meta-analysis. Findings revealed a better diagnostic value of serum D-dimer vs plasma D-dimer for the diagnosis of PJI.
