Meta-analysis of long-term survival after elective endovascular or open repair of abdominal aortic aneurysm
British Journal of Surgery Mar 28, 2019
Bulder RMA, et al. - Researchers assessed long-term survival following abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) repair via reviewing articles reporting short- and/or long-term mortality of endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) and open surgical repair (OSR) of AAA in this systematic review. They identified some 53 studies indicating a lower 30-day mortality rate for EVAR compared with OSR. Patients undergoing EVAR were similar to those undergoing OSR in terms of long-term survival rates.
