Meta-analysis evaluating the effect of left coronary dominance on outcomes after percutaneous coronary intervention
American Journal of Cardiology Sep 30, 2018
Khan MS, et al. - In patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), researchers evaluated the impact of left coronary dominance (LD) on outcomes by pooling all the available evidence from relevant observational studies and randomized controlled trials identified from MEDLINE, Cochrane CENTRAL, and Scopus databases. They analyzed evidence from a total of nine studies including 266,119 patients. According to the results of this meta-analysis, a significantly increased risk for mortality after PCI was observed in patients with LD coronary anatomy vs patients with a non-LD anatomy. Also, a significantly higher incidence of major adverse cardiac events and failed PCI was seen among LD patients.
