Mesenchymal stem cell transplantation as an effective treatment strategy for ischemic stroke in Asia: A meta-analysis of controlled trials

Xue P, et al. - The efficacy and safety of the mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) therapy in patients with ischemic stroke (IS) was evaluated in this investigation. PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, Embase, Wanfang and CNKI database were searched for this trial. This examination comprised 23 trials including one thousand, two hundred seventy-nine IS patients. During MSC therapy, no serious adverse events were reported. Results of this study suggested that MSC therapy was safe and effective in treating IS by improving the neurological deficits, motor function and daily life quality of patients.
