Menière disease patients improve specific posturographic parameters following diagnostic intratympanic injection
American Journal of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Medicine and Surgery Apr 10, 2020
Neri G, Bondi D, Scordella A, et al. - Researchers conducted inner ear magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) examination in 12 adult patients with unilateral Menière's Disease after intratympanic gadolinium injection (ITG) in order to evaluate specific computerized posturographic parameters in these patients following ITG. After ITG, the MRI in the affected ear confirmed the endolymphatic hydrops revealing a thin or even disappeared perilymphatic space. As per observations, patients undergoing intratympanic gadolinium infiltration exhibit no vestibular damage. Findings confirm the correlation between intratympanic pressure and vestibular stability modifications yielding positive evidence for the possible utility of CP as a functional assessment to better address diagnosis and follow-up in MD patients treated with intratympanic injections.
