Melanoma risk prediction using a multi-locus genetic risk score in the Women’s Health Initiative cohort
Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology Mar 03, 2018
Cho HG, et al. - This trial was conducted to analyze the contribution of a combined polygenic risk score on melanoma development in post-menopausal women. The women in the tertile with highest genetic risk, when compared to the tertile of weighted genetic risk scores (GRS) with lowest genetic risk, were 1.9 times likely to develop melanoma. In post-menopausal women, the higher genetic risk was related to increased melanoma prevalence and incidence. But in risk prediction, the current genetic information may have a limited role when phenotypic information is available.
