Melanoma risk after in vitro fertilization: A review of the literature
Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology Jul 31, 2018
Berk-Krauss J, et al. - Authors conducted a literature review to evaluate the possible correlations between in vitro fertilization (IVF) and melanoma. They reported the primary outcomes as associations between IVF and melanoma risk vs the general population. Associations stratified by type of IVF regimen and subgroup, such as parous vs nulliparous patients, were included in the secondary outcomes. Among all infertile women, consistent patterns of an association between IVF and malignant melanoma (MM) were not revealed. Nonetheless, in ever-parous patients treated with IVF, there may be an elevated risk of MM.
