Melanocyte abnormalities and senescence in the pathogenesis of idiopathic guttate hypomelanosis

Rani S, et al. - Herein the role of melanocytes in the pathogenesis of idiopathic guttate hypomelanosis (IGH) was checked by the experts. In IGH patients, large-sized melanocytes with small and retracted dendrites were noted. The problem in the transfer of melanin from melanocytes to keratinocytes could have led to the accumulation of more melanin in the IGH melanocytes. As per the data, the senescence in the melanocytes of IGH patients could be due to the accumulation of melanin.
