Mediterranean diet adherence is related to reduced probability of prodromal Parkinson's disease
Movement Disorders Feb 20, 2019
Maraki MI, et al. - Researchers investigated the probability of prodromal Parkinson's disease (PD) in an older population via using data from a population-based cohort study of older adults (HEllenic Longitudinal Investigation of Aging and Diet). Further, they determined its possible association with Mediterranean diet adherence. Overall, they noted a lower probability of prodromal PD in correlation with adherence to the Mediterranean diet in this study population. A 2% decreased probability for prodromal PD was observed with each unit increase in the Mediterranean diet score.
