Median effective dose of intranasal dexmedetomidine sedation for transthoracic echocardiography in pediatric patients with noncyanotic congenital heart disease: An up-and-down sequential allocation trial
Paediatric Anaesthesia Sep 24, 2017
Yu Q, et al. - In this current exploration, 50% effective dose of single-dose intranasal dexmedetomidine was determined, and 95% effective dose was estimated for the purpose of sedation-induction in children with noncyanotic congenital heart disease. Furthermore, researchers also assessed the impact of age on the dose required for sedation. Findings demonstrated that as a sedative agent, single-dose of intranasal dexmedetomidine showed efficacy in patients under the age of 3 years who needed sedation for transthoracic echocardiography. In children aged 13-36 months versus children <13 months, the 50% effective dose of intranasal dexmedetomidine for transthoracic echocardiography sedation was higher.
