Medial meniscus posterior root tear does not affect the outcome of medial open-wedge high tibial osteotomy
Journal of Arthroplasty Sep 25, 2020
Kim KI, Bae JK, Jeon SW, et al. - This study was undertaken to investigate if the presence of medial meniscus posterior root tear (MMPRT) affects the clinical and radiographic outcomes of the medial open-wedge high tibial osteotomy (MOWHTO) in comparison with the individuals without MMPRT for over a midterm follow-up. Researchers retrospectively included a total of 156 knees that had undergone MOWHTO and second-look arthroscopy concomitantly with a minimum of 5 years of follow-up. This study distinguished 74 knees with MMPRT (MMPRT group). The results of this study exhibit that MMPRT does not influence the clinical and radiologic outcomes of MOWHTO in comparison with those individuals without MMPRT over a mid-term follow-up.
