Mechanical thrombectomy for stroke patients anticoagulated with direct oral anticoagulants vs warfarin
Journal of the Neurological Sciences Jun 19, 2021
Koge J, Tanaka K, Yamagami H, et al. - Researchers conducted the study for comparing outcomes after mechanical thrombectomy (MT) for large vessel occlusion (LVO) between stroke patients who were anticoagulated with direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) and those who were anticoagulated with warfarin. Patients with prior oral anticoagulation who underwent MT were identified using data from a prospective, multicenter registry of 2,399 LVO stroke patients. In total, 235 patients (95 women, median age 78 [interquartile range, 72–84] years) were involved. Angiographic and clinical outcomes after MT were comparable in patients anticoagulated with DOACs and warfarin.
