Mechanical insufflation-exsufflation vs conventional chest physiotherapy in children with cerebral palsy

Siriwat R, et al. - In this randomized controlled trial, mechanical insufflation-exsufflation (MI-E) and conventional chest physiotherapy (CPT) were compared as strategies to reduce hospital stay and to improve atelectasis in children with quadriplegic spastic cerebral palsy with lower-respiratory infections. In this patient population, MI-E was proven to be beneficial in shortening the duration of airway clearance and was found to be a safe and efficient intervention for airway clearance.
