Measles immunity gaps and the progress towards elimination: A multi-country modelling analysis
The Lancet Infectious Diseases Sep 25, 2017
Trentini F, et al. - Authors performed a multi-country modeling analysis to investigate how measles immunity had changed over time across different socioeconomic settings, as a result of demographic changes and past immunisation policies. As per findings, they recommended focusing future vaccination strategies in high-fertility countries on increasing childhood immunisation rates, either by raising first-dose coverage or by making erratic Supplementary Immunization Activities (SIAs) more frequent and regular. Low-fertility countries seemed to require immunisation campaigns targeting adolescents and adults, where the susceptibility in these age groups would otherwise sustain measles circulation.
