Maternal history of recurrent pregnancy loss and future risk of ophthalmic morbidity in the offspring
American Journal of Reproductive Immunology Sep 17, 2020
Aharon E, Wainstock T, Sheiner E, et al. - Researchers ascertained if maternal history of recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL) is related to offspring childhood ophthalmic morbidity. For this purpose, long‐term offspring ophthalmic morbidity in women with and without a history of RPL was compared in a hospital‐based cohort analysis. Ophthalmic morbidity incorporated hospitalizations involving a pre‐defined set of ICD‐9 codes. This study did not include offspring with congenital anomalies, perinatal death cases, and multifetal pregnancies. According to the findings, being born to a mother with RPL was shown to be independently related to an elevated risk of ophthalmic morbidity.
