Maternal High Triglyceride Levels During Early Pregnancy and Risk of Preterm Delivery: A Retrospective Cohort Study
Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism Mar 07, 2019
Lin XH, et al. - In this retrospective cohort study at University-based maternity center, authors assessed 49,612 females with singleton pregnancy to analyze the relationship between high maternal triglyceride (mTG) levels during early pregnancy and risks of preterm delivery due to early pregnancy body mass index (BMI). They noted an association of high mTG (>90th percentile, 2.04 mM) with shortened gestation. They found an elevated risk of total, early, and late preterm deliveries with mTG levels, whereas the high mTG–related risk was reported raised for early preterm delivery. They also observed a correlation between high mTG and the risk of preterm delivery (after stratification by BMI) in both overweight or obese (OWO) women and women with normal BMI.
