Maternal diabetes and incidence of childhood cancer-A nationwide cohort study and exploratory genetic analysis
Clinical Epidemiology Dec 14, 2017
Deleskog A, et al. - This nationwide cohort study was performed to investigate if maternal diabetes was correlated with risk of childhood brain tumor (CBT), leukemia (all types combined and acute lymphoblastic leukemia [ALL] separately), and lymphoma. Compared to children of the non-diabetic mother, children of the diabetic mother had a lower risk of CBT and a higher risk of leukemia. The outcomes were compatible with a role of prenatal and perinatal glycemic environment in childhood cancer etiology.
