Maternal chorioamnionitis & long term neurological morbidity in the offspring
European Journal of Paediatric Neurology Apr 01, 2019
Freud A, et al. - By conducting a population-based retrospective cohort analysis, researchers assessed if there was a connection between maternal chorioamnionitis and long-term pediatric neurological morbidity. neurological morbidity hospitalizations were used for the assessment of pediatric neurological morbidity. To compare the cumulative neurological morbidity, Kaplan-Meier survival curves were built and a model of Cox regression was used to control confounders. The study sample consisted of 238,622 newborns. Findings suggested an association between maternal chorioamnionitis and cerebral palsy in the offspring, regardless of other birth circumstances like preterm delivery and birthweight.
