Maternal blood pressure mediates the association between maternal obesity and infant weight gain in early postpartum
Pediatric Obesity Jul 18, 2019
Berger PK, et al. - In this investigation involving 169 Hispanic mother-infant pairs, researchers assessed the mediating function of higher maternal blood pressure (BP) at one month postpartum on the connection of higher maternal weight at one month postpartum with higher infant weight gain over six months postpartum. Multiple linear regression models were used to predict and to determine mediation, Sobel test was used. The results of this indicate that higher maternal weight status at one month postpartum is associated with higher infant weight gain over six months postpartum, and this connection is mediated at one month postpartum by higher maternal BP.
