Ultrasound in Obstetrics & Gynecology Sep 18, 2020
Di Mascio D, The WAPM (The World Association of Perinatal Medicine) working group on COVID‐19, et al. - Via performing this multinational retrospective cohort study of pregnant women affected by SARS‐COV‐2, researchers sought to evaluate maternal and perinatal outcomes in these patients. Among 388 included singleton pregnancies tested positive to SARS‐COV‐2, the primary outcome of a composite measure of maternal mortality and morbidity including admission to intensive care unit (ICU), use of mechanical ventilation, or death, was reported in 47 women (12.1%). Analysis suggests association of SARS‐COV‐2 in pregnant women with 0.8% rate of maternal mortality, but 11.1% rate of admission to ICU. There appeared negligible risk of vertical transmission.
