Efron D, et al. - In a community-based sample of children with and without attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), researchers probed into the correlations between maternal symptoms of ADHD and child functional outcomes. Results shed light on the connection between maternal ADHD symptoms with increased ADHD symptom severity and reduced quality of life (QoL) by maternal report in offspring with or without ADHD. In addition, broader negative relation were noted with emotional and social functioning in children without ADHD. Maternal ADHD symptoms ought to be taken into account in the assessment of the referred children and referral ought to be made to adult services where indicated.
