Busu T, et al. - Researchers undertook a systematic review and a meta-analysis of studies on percutaneous and surgical treatment of percutaneous paravalvular leak (PVL) to compare the two treatment strategies. In comparison to percutaneous closure, surgical treatment of PVL attained higher technical success rates, but was linked to higher early morbidity and mortality. Both modalities, however, were similar in terms of mortality rates and clinical efficacy parameters at mid-term.
