Markers of nutritional status and mortality in older adults: The role of anemia and hypoalbuminemia

Corona LP, et al. – This study was meant to assess the effect of anemia and hypoalbuminemia on mortality in a 5–year period. Findings reported that older adults, anemia and hypoalbuminemia were identified as essential markers for death and had an additive influence on mortality. Being common and cost–effective biomarkers, these were recommended to be used in geriatric evaluation for all health professionals and in population settings, such as primary care.
