Marker of proliferation Ki-67 expression is associated with transforming growth factor beta 1 and can predict the prognosis of patients with hepatic B virus-related hepatocellular carcinoma
Cancer Management and Research Apr 19, 2018
Yang C, et al. - Researchers analyzed transforming growth factor beta 1 (TGFB1) and marker of proliferation Ki-67 (MKI67) expression in different pathologic grades/stages and tissue types of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Using pathway analysis and in a HepG2 cell line treated with TGFB1, they explored the link between MKI67 and TGFB1 expression. Also, they assessed the prognostic value of TGFB1 and MKI67 expression in patients with hepatitis B virus (HBV)-related HCC using survival analysis. In liver cancer tissues, the upregulation of MKI67 expression was noted. In various stages and tissue types of liver cancer, different MKI67 and TGFB1 expression levels were apparent. MKI67 expression level was shown to be related to TGFB1 expression in liver cancer tissues and a HepG2 cell line. The clinical outcomes of patients with HBV-related HCC could be predicted by MKI67 expression level.
