Marital status and survival in patients with soft tissue sarcoma: A population-based, propensity-matched study
Cancer Medicine Mar 06, 2019
Zhang SI, et al. - A sum of 18,013 soft tissue sarcoma (STS) cases diagnosed between 2004 and 2015, were assessed to examine the influence of marital status on survival consequences among subjects with STS. They observed better 5-year overall survival (OS) and 5-year cancer-specific survival (CSS) among married patients as compared to those who were divorced, widowed, and single, respectively. They noticed marital status, an independent prognostic and shielding factor for survival among STS cases whereas unmarried status was correlated with higher mortality hazards for both OS and CSS. They also found the highest risks of overall and cancer-specific mortality among widowed people.
