Management of type-I gastric neuroendocrine neoplasms: A 10-years prospective single center study
Digestive and Liver Diseases Dec 15, 2021
Esposito G, Cazzato M, Rinzivillo M, et al. - The outcomes of patients with type 1 gastric neuroendocrine neoplasia (T1gNENs), receiving treatments with different endoscopic approaches, were analyzed.
Endoscopic surveillance was performed at regular intervals to manage the patients.
Forceps or cold snare were used to perform resection in tumors < 10 mm, otherwise mucosal resection (EMR) or submucosal dissection (ESD) were conducted.
Researchers included 127 T1gNENs identified in 80 patients; 87.4% of these were < 5 mm, whereas 8.7% were 6–10 mm, 3.1% were 11–20 mm, and 0.8% was > 20 mm.
Outcomes suggest that based on tumor size, the management of T1gNENs may be planned.
Follow-up using noninterventional endoscopic surveillance could be done in cases with T1gNENs < 5 mm for which the initial removal is not radical.
